And crannies.
Gleefully exploring in the summer sun
Stone and vine, in mutual embrace.
Lacey wings flutter the leaves
As they stretch out along the wall Cheekily advancing.... reminding me of little green stars.
High above, hawk-wings shiver
Blurring for an instant a patch of blue.
Wings pixelated, a momentary hesitation
Before free-falling into the ferns beneath.

Perhaps we could write a poem between us...a line at a time. I'll start it off... Please do add to it. Let's get at least to 14 lines & then we can call it a sonnet...not worrying about any specific rhyme scheme...unless people want to???😉

A warm wind blows through sweet chestnut trees
As the day fades
And the shapes of hills
Form silhouettes against a silver sky
I savour a moment alone
Family close by
Busying themselves in the villa just below
I start to feel my body ease
And my mind calm its fears
My heart beats a little slower
And my sense of self returns
As these wooded hills
Breathe their healing breath
Across my face.

Certainly a few about locally. Walk up from Corntown to the top of the hill where the trig point is and there were several nesting and hovering. Trouble is they are nesting in arable fields which are not ideal for their breeding cycle.
