Rejoice in the Lord, again I say Rejoice! - An Online Harvest Service
This is our Harvest service for the 4th October 2020. This is very toned down from our regular harvest celebrations because of the lock-downs, but it is still important for us to pause at this harvest, even if it isn't the celebration we usually make of it.
Our readings today can be found below the service video.
Collect
Almighty and everlasting God,
who crownest the year with thy goodness,
and hast given to us the fruits of the earth in their season:
give us, we beseech thee, grateful hearts,
that we may rightly use thy gifts to thy glory;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Psalm 100
O be joyful in the Lord, all the earth:
serve the Lord with gladness
and come before his presence with a song.
Know that the Lord is God:
it is he that has made us and we are his;
we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise:
give thanks to him and bless his name.
For the Lord is gracious; his steadfast love is everlasting:
and his faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
Philippians 4. 4-9
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness[a] be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned[b] and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
John 6. 25-35
25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
